Description:
Built in 1929 entirely of hand hewn wood & stone, Vikingsholm Castle consists of 39 lavishly furnished rooms, and tours are available through the summer season. Vikingsholm is one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the United states. Also built was a single room Tea House on the summit of Fannette Island. To get there from the campground: (12 miles) Parking available just north of Emerald Bay. The one mile trail is quite steep, but the views of Emerald Bay are extraordinary, and there are benches to sit and enjoy the view on the way.
